The 8 individually Japanese-styled rooms at Gekkoujyu all coem with a living room with tatami mats, bedroom (2 semi-double beds), irori room, indoor bath, and open-air bath with wood terrace. In addition to Tenshin (88 sqm), Yoimachi (97 sqm), Kazemachi (99 sqm), Izayoi (95 sqm) and Ariake (82 sqm), Yumihari (87 sqm) features a footbath, Yumemi (98 sqm) features a tearoom, and Kagetsu (99 sqm) features a tsukimidai (moon-viewing place).
Kumamoto is blessed with variety and quality in food, including local branded beef such as Higo beef and Aso-ou beef, seasonal seafood from inshore seas, together with locally-grown vegetables and edible wild plants. In the preparation of seasonal food, Gekkoju places great value on the tradition of Japanese cuisine, while at the same time constantly introducing new inspiration into its dishes.
